Your doing a fine job once you install the new carb do a plug chop as its a good way to determine o if your jet size is correct and your air/ fuel mixture is right or its too llean or rich http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Plug_chop Take care and ride safely my friend Yours Hank |

You would think what should be simple to work on should be just that, simple. But no, the god of scooter repair always gets the last laugh.... Hahahahaha!

Bad News:: i knew i shouldnt have tried and be mr. mechanic, so i install the new carb today and the fuel line yesterday then when i try and start my scoot today, ITS NOT STARTING ???? i noticed that the gas has reached the fuel filter but very little and the fuel hose that connects with the carb has no gas in it at all, could this be a vacuum issue, im so frustrated rite now, it has a brand new carb >: i tried starting it about 5 times plus one of the times i tried it the battery seemed slow, so now i have a battery issue?

now the scooter started (yay) but the idle seems high (4000 rpms) and the wheel is spinning like crazy...
|
Question:: where does the rpms have to be when its idle, my wheel starts spinning at 3000 rpms, the wheel STOPS spinning at 2700 rpms, should i leave it at 2700 or i heard that the normal rpms is at 2000 rpms for a scoot, which one is it?? i made a video

Yeah the mixture screw can be a pain to get at. On my bike, I have to remove the side cover.
Your idle should be set around 1600-1800 rpms. |

Usually tighter (clockwise) will lean out the mixture, but then I am not scooter expert. I, in fact, am reading all this to help learn what my son needs to do with the one he just bought yesterday.

*****Update**** issue was fixed with a new carb & setting up the mixture and speed screws CORRECTLY. I made 2 other threads based on this hard starting issue.
