New Chinese scooter

So I caved and bought a Chinese scooter from txpowersports.com and I really like it, downside is the muffler. Don't like the sound at all overall looks and performance I can't complain.
It's a helix clone motor 250cc. Gets up to 75mph but it's in kph, also great gas mileage 60+mpg. I know I want to upgrade the clutch belt and variator/weights. I want to squeeze more torque out so my 0-60 is faster. Its going to be my DD for work so I only need to go 50 with it. |

More pictures. It's got great led headlights and dual disc brake front/ rear disc brakes too. Led turn signals as Well and it's not too uncomfortable on bumpy roads.

Very interesting! All I've ever seen were the 50-150cc versions. Now put some miles on it and give us a update!

Haha I'm trying too. Newborn doesn't allow me to ride like I used to.
It comes with a 1 year parts warranty on the motor, and 6 months on the body for anything defective. |
That's pretty sharp looking!
|
Thanks, for $2300 it better be haha. It's nice that it comes shipped to my house too.

My only advice is to go easy on the engine for 1,000 miles changing the oil every 200 or so. After that it should do 60 mph easily every day. These engines will do 75 mph-once. The metallurgy might be better these days but my 2009 with the same engine will fly but it's not built to be flogged. If you keep it below 64 mph it will last forever.
I read somewhere, maybe here, that even with water cooling the oil heats up, breaks down and takes the engine with it. Ridden moderately it isn't a problem. If you flog it the head gasket will go first and what follows isn't pretty. |
Yeah I try not to do WOT, but I have to drive it down a highway to get to work. So I'm not trying to WOT every take off.
It's fun I enjoy it. I have to do an oil change on it soon too. |
Thats a big improvement over previous Chinese attempts to make a twist n go sport bike, in both looks and power. Keep us posted.

Ok first issue I ran into. I didn't realize the gasket wasn't on right from factory so I lost all my gear oil and had to fix it and fill it back up.
Second is something sounds lose inside the muffler so you hear metal rattling inside at a stop. So I need to find a new muffler. I can get it replaced under warranty but I don't like the sound. So if you know of universal mufflers let me know. |
I have another question for you guys, this belt on the bike is 918-22.5-30 unlike the helix that used 829-22.5-30. so what scooter uses this size belt? Also since the belt is different how will I know what roller weights to use? Size wise?
|
It has a long case 244 engine like the old CFMoto V5 and V3. My best advice is go to www.partsforscooters.com and on their chat mode ask for Matt Many. He knows a ton of stuff and could probably answer your questions.
|
I messaged them yesterday no response.
|
Hang on. I will message Matt tomorrow. He isn't fond of hearing "I didn't get a response"
|
Well I noticed steadygarage.com has two belts for the cn250 it's the 828x22.5 and the 918x22.5. so I figured it's going to be the same splines and parts, I clutch and variator/weights.

nice looking bike mate

Thanks. I get compliments all the time.

how's it been riding so far :scoot: |
Perfect. I just hit 710 miles, running strong put in stronger clutch springs and torque spring. Helped take off and top end, wanting a lighter variator and clutch Bell. Put in sliders and see how I am from there.
May put in a better intake down the road and get a different exhaust. |
I'm glad someone is still getting some use out of the Helix engine. I like how it looks like a sportbike, but is actually a scooter in wolf's clothing. :)
I hope it turns out to be reliable for you. |
