05 Motofino 49cc to 150cc

I am in the process of completing a 150cc swap... all I have left to do is make a seat and a tail light, and find a few more plastics.

I will slowly be updating this thread as my internet connection sucks... lol

Here she is when me and my friend Scootin150 Picked her up

Thanks Hank! Welcome to my Thread

Scootnwinn I could not tell you what happen to the scooter before I got it. What I CAN tell you is that the original 50cc engine that was on it DID catch on fire a couple times when we tried to get it running. That is when I decided I was tired of messing with such a small underpowered pathetic engine!

scootnwinn 01-28-2013 02:40 AM

Well looks like you got a ways to go you better get to it if you are going to ride tomorrow... ;)

scootin150 01-28-2013 02:41 AM

Man i didnt know u still had that old pic i think we gave like 40 bucks for it or something def. a good find and wait till everyone see's the outcome...;)

MEAN_MOTOFINO 01-28-2013 02:43 AM

Here I am grinding the frame down after I welded the mounts for the 150cc in. I also had to rewire my harness because I kinda ruined it by letting it short out. But its all good now :yay:

Kinda Jumping around on this build thread...

I had the 150 running for while and it ran pretty good, til the exhaust fell off one day. So I had to take the head off to retap the holes for the exhaust studs, and when I did that I found out the headgasket had been leaking.

So long story short, now I have a ported and milled head (.070" shaved) , Running no base gasket and also running a hand made manual chain tensioner. I had to basically make my own head pipe because I hhad ported the stock one and it broke on me. So now I am in the process of replacing the broken part with larger tubing :yay::clap::yay:

I had to repaint the scoot because the plastics were broken into two pieces... when this particular year Motofino had a one piece front end. So I had to bond the nose back together to make it solid and do body work on it. Here are some Pics. I still need one more panel for the passanger side.

I forgot to mention...This scoot weighs 120lbs Minus Fuel. So I am hoping to get good gas mileage out of it especially with the torque I have with the high compression

Well guys... I have some very bad news :s >:( :s

While practicing my staging and launching this afternoon, my axle snapped

I suppose it was because I got the tire VERY sticky, but I really didnt have a choice as it just spins if I dont warm it up :s

Now time for some good news :yay:

I finished my long tube header today. With what I feel is great results. Although now it feels like I need to retune, or just goto a larger carb.

Sorry for the bad luck, nice looking header though!

scootnwinn 01-29-2013 10:42 PM

It is a good feeling to build a bike with so much power that it can snap hard parts like that isn't it?

I'm sure you will have it fixed quick nice header

scootin150 01-29-2013 10:55 PM

Im jealous i wish mine had the power to break axles. I cant wait to start riding again we need to get some scoots up around south carolina area to ride with.

MEAN_MOTOFINO 01-29-2013 11:01 PM

Thanks for the support my fellow Dawgs :yay:

MEAN_MOTOFINO 01-31-2013 12:00 AM

I have decided to cut up the exhaust and go another route with it today. Mainly because it was way too loud to ride. Everybody looked when I came screaming down the road @60mph :s:s:s:s

So now I have manufactured a flange for a motorcycle muffler I had laying around. The muffler is in VERY rough shape, but it sounds good so I will use it anyways. Or maybe my $400 D&D muffler. Still not sure yet.

Stay Tuned :clap::clap::yay::clap::clap:

Nice Work MEAN MOTOFINO have u figured away to stop breaking axles? Chromoly?

MEAN_MOTOFINO 01-31-2013 12:48 AM

NOT YET. I am just using another stock one from a very low mileage 150 that was laying around. Hope it will last for the time being. Do you know of any stronger aftermarket axles????

MEAN MACHINE

scootin150 01-31-2013 01:28 AM

Guys ive never seen such a strong 150 as Mean Machines and ive rode plenty of them! Its amazing what some porting and milling to the head will do for u. His bike has mad compression and theres alot of fokes on here that say u cant mill the head past .035 but Mean Machine went to .075 thousanths which at first i thought was crazy and would never work but guess what it does and has MAD compression! Sounds like my Built 400Ex i had back in the day! Note: IF u do go this far on milling the head for compression DO NOT run anything other than stock cam as there will be valve clearance issues and u will have to fab up a timing chain tensioner or buy a shorter chain. Great work Mean Machine if only people could ride your 120lb bike and feel the pull!!!
