A country Boy can survive..

A country Boy can survive...lol. Got a 'new Scoot' for some work I did for a guy that is a dealer for them. It is a 2008 Jonway Sunny. It has been sitting untouched in his warehouse because it would run correctly out of the crate...so he was gonna use it as a parts bike..but left it sitting there. Found out it was ok..just had a bent and burned valve due to the flyhweel timing marks being stamped WAY off! New valves ground..lapped and installed an it purrs like a Kitten! But even with the original MCO Michigan DMV won't let me register it because they say being 6 years old and never being registered it is not considered 'new' and will cost me $500.00 for a Surety Bond to make sure it is not stolen..when all they gotta do is run the VIN..but they won't.. >: Then I have to pay the State Police to do a safety check on it and verify the VIN. So it will cost me over $500.00 to register a 'new' with MCO Scoot I got from a licensed dealer?? This is pure Bullsh!t.. Anyway it is for my Girlfriend and when I asked what color she wanted it as some of the body panels had faded..she said John Deer theme.. :D It is almost done and I will post pics of the completed project. Right now the paint is drying enough so I can clear coat and rub it out. Here is pic she took that she uses as her Facebook homepage pic.. We can't wait to see the look when folks say.. "John Deere made Scooters too??" She is gonna tell them yes..custom order only.. :lmao: We got the factory color paint and decals at a Farm and Tractor supply company... :yay: This is gonna rock..IF!! The DMV pulls their heads outta their @sses..since there is NO LAW about what they kept telling us regarding the age of a Scoot etc..

$500.00 is a Surety Fee that the insurance company keeps in case the Scoot is found to be stolen. That way the state can be reassured that actual owner of it is paid back for the loss. Bottom line..it is money that they..the insurance company and state get free to keep for themselves..because a scoot with an MCO and never been registered..Bill of sale from the company..original keys etc...is NOT stolen.. A way to dig into our pockets as usual..

Hey that's great that you got the deal on the scooter. It's crazy what the government tries to charge people. I like the John Deere logo and paint job you did, nice! Can't wait to see it finished Carasdad.

Gimpdog 04-18-2014 02:13 PM

A 42inch cut mower deck..a Back Hoe and interchangeable front Payload Bucket and 36inch Snowblower attachment.
:lmao: This ain't no City Folk Scoot..this here is a working Boyz Scoot..>D

Gimpdog 04-18-2014 07:23 PM

That must be an awesome BBK in that thing, LOL.

I paid a bit over $100 in Texas for a surety bond to register a 1960 Honda Super 90. I guess surety bonds are a bargain in TX,
The John Deere paint looks great. John Deere is a great American success story. He lost everything a few times and was on the run from creditors before he became successful.

Just keep going back to different DMV locations. Eventually you will find someone that isn't a dumbass and will register it for you.

Hey we have backhoes in here in the city. They're always tearing the roads apart!

4getful2 04-28-2014 06:09 PM

It might help if you "create" a bill of sale.

carasdad 04-28-2014 06:22 PM

We got it done! All legal now!

Gimpdog 04-28-2014 06:24 PM

Now you can "legally mow"?? LOL

Firehawk989 04-28-2014 06:28 PM

Haha, great job on the paint! I like it! Glad you got the registration sorted.

Thanks on my first paint job.. Typical human.. I was squinting and looking for any sag..fish eye etc.. We can be critical of ourselves. My Scoot business is going well this year.. So far I have built 19 performance engines for folks and all are happy. Now if it would only get above 50 degrees here in Michigan...our riding would be more pleasant. Oh yeah..tell yer baby girl..I bought a Derbi scoot from craigslist.. I have no clue what it may be..it says Manhattan on the side? I just know it is fast..parts for it seem to be difficult to find unless I order from England?..

Ha! Forget the mower attachment, you need to get a heated cab for that thing!!
Seriously, it'll be a while for MI to get warm, I think, as cold as the Great lakes got this winter...

True there...we broke a 120 year cold spell and snowfall record..98 days below 32 degrees and a 118 inches of snow. The Great lakes froze over and that is rare.. We got our last heat bill and all it say is.. "Bend over"..:lmao:
