New member big problem
Hello everyone my name is Cameron I currently live in Arkansas an I currently own a 2006 linhai classic aeoules 260 170mm . My scooter Currently has 5800 miles on it . It has a very big unsafe problem with the engine cutting out at different throttle by cutting out I mean engine going from 3500 rpm to 600-1000 rooms with backfire and stuttering . Mods I have done include throwing out the stock air box for a pod filter taking the jet from 128 to 140 drilling holes in the exhaust for better flow (poor man's performance exhaust ) adding a 3 prong Chinese spark plug and took the cdi governor to 9k rpms with a new cdi . Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be if I flutter the throttle the rpm will come back for a short time then cut out again . It wants to die when stopping in less I flutter the throttle .

First thing I would do is put the stock cdi back on it and see if it still does it. I'd also ditch that spark plug and get a good NGK. I've yet to see any chinese spark plug that was any good.

I second this as well. Another thing to see would be, when you installed the pod, did you do anything to keep water from splashing up onto the filter?

No I didn't think water would be that big of a problem considering there now injecting water into engines I have though about a guard to protect filter but I need sheets of aluminum to do so ok I'll go back to stock cdi and switch plug back to stock and see if that helps I just re jetted back to stock and closed holes in exhaust I threw the old airbox away I know how bad they are dumb idea

I had a Honda Helix that would stutter and backfire, turned out the carb baffle had a split in it and was letting in excess air. Got a new baffle (between the carb and cylinder) and made a brace so the new baffle would split again. Also agree about getting a NGK plug. Finally, could be a failing stator. But, once they start failing they usually dont recover and start working again.

Water shouldn't be a problem unless you have been puddle jumping in it on a regular basis. Yes it can soak the filter but you really have to be driving in pouring own rain or trying to hit every pot hole in the county.

Sounds like it might be a fuel delivery problem, check the vacuum hoses and gas tank venting. Fuel filter, petcock or fuel pump which ever it has.

Actually we have been getting drowned here lately in Arkansas. |
I have a mikuni style fuel pump that is suction driven . I just ordered a ngk plug and a new coil for it I will change the pump to electric eventually I will look at the plastic spacer

clean the insides of the carb including the jets
