50cc scooter annual registration in virginia?
 

Recently I purchased 50cc Chinese scooter. In dmv website there is statement that seems like requiring annual registration. Do I need to do registration every year?? Is there anybody who know that?

I can only speak for Virginia, wait-your in VA. We now have to register "mopeds" for an initial $30 tag/registration fee and $10 a year to renew the tag thereafter. Cannot exceed 35mph, no insurance is required, or a state inspection. Also NO PROPERTY TAX! Make sure your title says "moped" on it. The police say it (registering) makes it easier to recover a stolen moped. We believe its to pop us for running red light cameras. It also closes the loophole for suspended license drivers from operating a moped. I personally don't mind registering my moped and I also carry insurance on mine, even though its not required. Cost a whopping $28 a year.
