Its Official!!
I am the proud owner of a NY State Class M license!! I passed the Motorcycle safety class yesterday! I didn't use the scooter for the course, but road a Yamaha 250 they provide. I learned an awful lot !! I took the paperwork to the dmv and got my new motorcycle license. I then took my SYM 200 out for a quick lunchtime ride. 65 here in Erie County NY today. :scoot:

Hi
Outstanding Congratulations Take care and ride safely my friend Yours Hank |
Congrats on the license!!! Long time ago, we had to have a shadow around when riding in NY on a permit. Is that still in effect?

It sure is Gimpdog. The only 2 ways to get a license is to take the NY State approved safety course, you do the state approved road test at the end of the course. Or you can ride with a shadow, and no more than 1/4 mile of separation between the 2 of you. Then you can try and schedule a road test.

Congratulations. In my state, you can do the MSF on a scooter but it only qualifies you for an "S" license, to ride a 50cc scoot on the road. I had to take the MSF on a Suzy TU250 to be able to ride my 125cc scoot legally.

WOW, NY doesn't differentiate between scooters and motorcycles, its all CC's. Under 50 CC you dont need a M endorsement on your license.
|
Scooters just aren't that prevalent in TX, except in urban areas. I'm OK with the MSF course setup because now I can rent a Harley for a weekend if I feel the need for a long trip.

great job:clap:

I didn't realise the states differ that much with motorcycle enforcements. Here in Arizona I was told by an officer that the law has a grey area and technically if it has a motor gas or electric and 2 wheels you need a motorcycle enforcement. But its not enforced except on bigger bikes. I don't know what that means but I got mine.I didn't think to ask about gopeds.
|
Oh I ment to ask. Mfrys how do you like that sym 200? Is it the rv or the hd? They make some nice looking scoots.

I have a bike license since 1973. Now they have a range on Long Island for the test. When I took it you met an inspector on a back road, made circles and figure 8's in the road and rode around while he watched from a following car. No MSF then. |
