Am I lucky, or is it good?
Hello!
The scoot arrived today, and looks really fantastic, aesthetically speaking. I followed the PDI instructions and it came out really well: Frame: No rust, a small spot of orange water stain in the "cup" on the bottom of the side stand. Electrics: All good connections, sprayed with PTFE water proofing spray. Hoses: All clipped on with butterfly springs, all in good condition Oil: (this was the only bad point) it had chips (fries) in it. It was a horrible black colour, but I couldn't see any metallic residue and the filter screen was good and clean. Seeing as I'd bought the oil anyway, and the old stuff looked like itd just come out of a frier I changed it. Idle speed: wheel just pulling itself very slowly on the stand (just nudging itself round). First ride out for fuel was a little scary, as it was juddery on the half trickle of fuel the dealer put in, but once it was topped up, it was spot on. I'm just a little worried, does this mean it's a good scoot, or will it have dissolved when I open the garage door in the morning? Is it gonna spontaneously explode under me just before the first due service? Any advice welcome! Thanks, Ian. |

Hi Ian
Congratulations she sounds like a fine scoot When you get the chance do post a photo so we can see her in all her glory I agree with rob above about the idle May she bring you much joy in the years to come Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank |
That's cool, I found the adjustment when I had the panels off this afternoon, so I'll give it a little tweak tomorrow. The first service is due at 180mile, and I've already spoken to the local scoot workshop. I'll run it in on the cheap (less powerfull) spark plug until then, and then he'll change the spark, and do the Vv heights and tappets then.
I don't know why, but I'm happy to work on a 70litre, V12, 1.3MW deisel generator you can hit with a sledge hammer, but my little 125cc scoot, I'll hand over to an "expert"! Lol |
Until your familiar with it that may be good. Ask him if you can watch he may charge extra but it would be good to see. Being cautious modifying something your life depends on is just smart +1

That and it's always good to have the stamp in the logbook, for insirance if anything happens, or even for resale.
Here's a daft question: After your first ride, or first ride in a while, does your neck hurt? I guess I'm just not used to wearing a helmet under acceleration! Lol |
You are likely riding too tense and yes no windshield will make your neck hurt. Lean forward a bit so the air is pushing your relaxed head up a bit and your arms are in a nice bent position...
Ok enough chit chat let's see the scooter we require pictures if any other questions are to be answered... (stock photos off the website don't count btw) |
Right, don't say I never give you anything! Let's see if image tags work on here like they do on other vbulletin forums. Hopefully some people are still around to see it.

Hi Ian
Outstanding Shes a looker thats for sure, very nice Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank |
I'm actually really impressed with it. I'm not a "scoot dawg" at all, and only bought it for commuting, but I'm surprised that I actually really like it. Especially that front end, with the strip indicators over the head lights. And being a 125, it's significantly bulkier than the 50 I did my CBT on (which was so small, my legs froze because there was no wind shielding from the front panels!).
If you can see in the pics from the rear, there's a cordial bottle in front of the front tyre: that black gunge in it is the oil I took out of the brand new engine. As an engineer I was shocked. I can't believe they did the rest of the bike properly, and then gave up when they put the oil in! Lol |
And this is the oil I took out:
http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...E23666D315.jpg In a decade of engineering, I can honestly say I've never seen anything like that come out off an engine with ZERO running hours. I'll definitely be doing another change at 150Km, half way to the first service. |
Yeah good ole Chinese shipping oil, by the way where did you get the scooter from looks great

It's UK based, and I've not heard of any of these outside the UK. It's a Pulse Lightspeed 2, if you can find one elsewhere. |
