TaoTao Thunder 49cc. Need advice on performance parts
 
I just bought a brand new taotao thunder 49cc scooter. I really want to put a bbk on it and all the other performance enhancements I can possibly put on it. I've read that getting smaller 4 gram rollers will get me to my top speed quicker. But other than that and a bbk, what other things can I do to get better acceleration and top speed? And where can I buy them from for the best price?

Scrappydog scooters. They have plenty of parts. I would go with a bigger crab for one. A no rev cdi. And a clutch set up your bike will be running like 150. And of course an exhaust. They cdi will make a big difference with just that. But you change one part that you'll most likely need to adjust you air/feul ratio and jets.

Mods will not make a 50cc a contender against even a stock 150cc. Mods to the 139(50cc), even BBKs, don't really give the 139 more top end. Fully modded, you'll be lucky to hit 50mph on flats.

A moderately modified 157(150cc) will hit 60mph, a highly modified 157 can hit upwards of 75 at very high rpms.

Sadly, no matter what you do to a 139, it'll never take a 157.

Do the CVT mods first, then try it out. A bigger carb is unnecessary, usually you'll get what you're after with simple jet swap and carb tuning. A non BBK 139 engine is really small, so adding a bigger carb will result in poor performance.

I also point out, if speed is the concern, a 150 is the way to go.

don't diss the 50cc's ability to contend you should see mine it will keep up with most, in both acceleration and top speed (mine currently does 65 mph at 4k rpm) What has been done to mine is a 52mm bbk with specially modified piston, hoca 52mm big bore head with larger valves cnc ported and polished, 42.5mm stroker crank, cvt completely retuned, final drive regeared with 2.411 gears, automotive racing coil, billet gy6 150 intake stretched smoothed and ported, I was running a commonly available 1 in (performance) exhaust but I'm now upgrading to a 1.25 in exhaust ( the performance exhaust was found to be too restricted for the build), currently upgrading to fuel injection (I was running a retuned gy6 150 32mm carb.),and planning on upgrading the electrical system to offset the fuel injection power draw(got hurt at work and now I have a hard time getting down to retune carb.), performance cam matched to my engine, gy6 oil cooler kit modified with an electric oil pump, full positive pressure filtration, automotive engine oil cooler, and I am contemplating doing a supercharger conversion with a custom head spacer and modified timing chain. And yes it is wicked to ride, if you go wide open throttle from a standstill it will stand itself upright while smoking the rear tire (I wont let anybody else ride it for that reason when it got stolen from my driveway the thief made that mistake in front of my house and dumped it and ran off on foot... easy quick recovery lol).

I know mine is an extreme case last time I threw it on a dyno it cranked 20 hp at 4k rpm and 45 ft lbs of torque at 3500 and that's when it was discovered that the exhaust was limiting me to 4k rpm and yes it loves to eat belts for breakfast lunch and dinner Most modified gy6 150's don't make that kind of power

I am sorry, but do not believe your modded and BBKed small engine produces that type of horsepower or speed. I firmly believe those claims false.

you would be surprised what you can do with several cnc milling ad lathe machines and about 200 hrs just on flowbenches

I currently run a slightly modified with10 in rim, a moderately modified the one I referred too initially with a 130-70-12 tire, and my all out race spec engine 12 in rim (the one I referred to later on with the power specs). All are based of a qmb 139 engine aka gy6 50cc and I was referencing my race spec methanol running vane type supercharged engine running a heavily redesigned cvt belt drive. with a overdrive ratio of 0.67:1 when I referenced the power numbers (The other part of my power number posting apparently didn't post). And the moderately modded engine is eventually undergoing the same treatment.
