Gy6 150cc electrical issue maybe

I got this scooter for 150$ from a guy that could not get it running so it sat in a shed for a few years.

Got the scooter running nice everything was working. Just needed the battery charged.

While I had the battery on slow charge . I was fixing a few things. Would use the truck to jump start it with out the battery .
The scooter would run like this . head lights , horn , turn signals worked. Drove it for about 7 miles. No battery connected.

Ok now the problem. I installed the old battery that was on slow charge. Started and drove for about two miles. Stopped to fix a few vibration issues. Did this 3 more times. Then no juice to turn over. So I took the battery out to slow charge again.
Did want I was doing before using the truck to jump start it.
But now the scooters head lights , turn signals, horn, speedo will not work after disconnect the jumper cables. The scooter still will run just fine. Hook the jumper cables back up and everything works again until disconnect the jumper cables.

Every thing worked before but now it seems like the lights ' speedo, horn only works with the battery installed.
I did check and trace all the wires for a short or bad connection.

Any advice would be grateful.

Well done. These things aren't that complicated usually. Ride on!
