Custom CVT = Cooler Clutch
|
Cool,

My neighbor has a qmb139 and goes through a belt every year, I told him we could cut out the cover where the clutch to run cooler & save on belts. But he wants to spend money on a fancy chrome one. Good job BTW I'm going to show him this.

AS soon as I get me hands on a impact wrench I'm going to change out the bell and put on a racing one I have or paint that one lime green to just stand out. :)

Put a bit of wire mesh over that. I'll look cool, and keep large objects out of your transmission.

On my Honda, there was a foam and plastic cover over the aluminum variator/clutch cover. Over on TR the guys were removing the foam/plastic cover and painting the aluminum black. I don't know why they covered it, as the aluminum never gets hot, even after a lot of miles on a hot day.

I don't know that a cooler clutch is work opening it up to debris and water. Your CVT is a friction setup, if it gets wet it will slip. If you get dirt in there it'll wear the belt faster. There's a reason these things are usually sealed.

No different then the custom chrome ones they sell and any of the high performance drag scoots or big builds have there CVT cover drilled or chopped.
