Am I being scammed????

I have a 2008 Kinroad,it was horribly slow when i got it so i asked the dealer. He recommended a 100cc big bore kit install, that got me to 40 flat land, then he said get racing exhaust & header, and performance air filter. It's done and still same speed 40 flat land 30 up hill.I also changed fuel lines & vacuum to clear ones so i could see if it was clogged. I just ordered performance CDI and ignition coil. All the people i talked to said i should get 50-55 atleast.Do you think I'm getting taken for a ride and he is not doing what he says he is.I don't know anything about cars or bikes mechanically.I got about 600 in the parts and labor. If all is legit what can i do to get to 50 on flat land ?

If you want to get to 50mph you need to buy a 150cc and maybe then you'll hit 50. The '100cc' big bore kit isn't really a 100cc. I believe it is in the 80 range. If you're hitting a true 40mph that isn't bad. A gear change may help you take advantage of the small amount of extra power you have gained through your mods, but hitting 50 is still very highly doubtful. You weren't scammed, just don't believe everything everyone tells you.

It sounds like an awful lot of stuff to just be hitting 40 mph. I had a 50cc that would hit 40 and it's not flat around here. Have you played with the rollers and looked into like a performance variator? How much do you weigh BTW? If you're trying to pull a 240 pound person on it even a 150cc is going to strain.

I weigh 190.the guy at the shop told me it would get 50-55 mph if I went with 100cc vs 80cc BBK,I also got same answer from another customer down at the shop. On a side note my electric start turns over but I have to bump the kickstart once or twice while I hold the starter to get it to crank. That to me sounds like it's not getting enough spark. The dealer recommended Performance CDI,Performance Ignition coil, and NGK Spark plug to solve the problem. Is that a possibility ?

No, your starter isn't turning it over due to the larger piston/higher compression. Nothing to do with spark. Your battery is weak or you need a heavier duty starter. Probably the starter.

Do you know what size the rollers are? If you have 100cc displacement you should be able to pull heavier rollers. I would think a scooter as heavily modified as that should be able to go faster than stock. If your starter is straining you have a lot of displacement there and gearing is probably the limiting factor.

dang. I got 5g in there now and i get 30 up hill. now I'm going to 7g since i put the BBK,exhaust, and new clutch. I get it back tomorrow. I'd be happy with 45-50 flat and 35 up hill.. On a side note my Nephew works on cars, scooters, etc, but he riggs stuff up too much and he don't know as much as he acts(that comes straight from his Dad's mouth..lol) so I won't let him work on it.the other day I go down to the shop cause my parts are in and guess who works there...my nephew...sigh..can't win:doh:
