Pretty neat, and the prices don't seem too bad really.

Ok, thought since it was in general scoot topics, not in off topic that it's flagged as spam.

Hi
It matters not where the thread is located
Spandi the author of this thread is an old and dear friend to most of us from other scoot forums, he would never post spam of that im quite sure
And they are motorcycle speakers hes discussing and we are on a scooter forum
Take care and ride safely dear friend

Nope, not spam I am. (or even green eggs and ham) Just saw these and thought they looked pretty good, better than a lot of Junk audio stuff for motorcycles and scooters, that sounds awful or stops working a month after you put it in. (and yes I'm going to get a set so I can listen to all my Francoise Hardy albums (shameless music plug) while the beautiful SoCal scenery rolls by.) Thanks for the "clarification" Hank.

P.S. I also like them cause they almost spell D(A)WG!

larrball 02-13-2013 03:00 AM

I like them too spandi even thou im not much for music when riding simply because i always have a FFH on and for me i would need something more in the line of inside helmet.
Still doesn't mean i wouldn't install a set in to the front part of the VIP's glove box.

spandi 02-13-2013 09:50 AM

Well thank you for saying so larrball. I just wanted to bring it to your attention, as I figure any speaker that can play after being dunked underwater has got to be made with at least a modicum of care

scootnwinn 02-13-2013 10:07 AM

Did you get it all back together yet? How do they sound on the road?

inuyasha 02-13-2013 10:28 AM

Hi

Haven't gotten them yet Scootnwin, (i'll let you know) Right now I'm still getting the scoot back together. yesterday, I was putting in stainless steel 6mm threaded rod in the CVT cover area (screwed into the plate) so I don't have to spend an eternity trying to fish those long bolts into the holes.

Nice Hank, Let us know how it works out (good project to do in these last few weeks before the roads are clear again.)

My 2ct:
most speakers with poly cones can stand water. If they've got silk dome tweeters, some of the high end will be affected when you use them in rain until the water dries out.
About quality, generally plastic/poly coned drivers are ok, but tweeters need to be silk or some kind of metal alloy like titanium to be good. I don't think I heard many good sounding plastic tweeters, neither alu dome tweeters.
Alu-dome tweeters sound just average.. Paper tweeters sound warm, but can't stand water.
Titanium sounds the best (generally speaking).
A good speaker has a matching bass reflex cabinet.
Since most scooter speakers are handling around 40W max, you will want speakers with a cabinet rated 160Hz-20kHz, not lower than 80Hz, or a lot of the sound quality will get lost in lows you won't be able to hear anyway while riding...

If you can get your hands on alu-cast speakers, they'll last longer than steel cast, or steel stamped, as steel and water don't work well together.

I yet have to find a good sounding speaker for the scoot. If you could only integrate a set of studio monitors in a scoot's housing, but that does not seem to be a very easy job.

For the money these seem to work pretty well.

(the guy should really be wearing a helmet!) even for a test.

P.S. I always thought the acid test was how the speakers perform while riding.
