spark but no start
I had my engine running a few weeks ago and it ran fine but now it wont start.i have spark and its getting gas out of the fuel filter.the plug is soaked also.can I have a bad plug even though I have spark

I would question that you do have spark if the plug is soaked. Take the plug out or if you have a spare take the boot cap off and stick the plug in and HOLD IT on the Valve cover or MOTOR and crank it. If no spark then hold it on the frame and see if it sparks there. If it sparks on the frame but not on the motor Check the Ground wire from the frame to the motor.
Also some forget to put the KILLSWITCH on the run position they do get hit by accident and not spark. Also some have a killswitch on the side stand make sure it is UP. Lefty |
where would the ground wire come from?should i trace it from the negative on the battery
|
No not from the battery. The Ground wire is Attached to one of the bolts on the VALVE Cover if it's a 4 Stroke or a bolt on the motor and ITS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. There should also be a Ground Wire from the NEGATIVE post of the Battery to the FRAME.

How do you know you have a great spark?

So what does that have to do with having a good sprak?

i took out the plug and put it in the boot and i rested it on the head and its sparking good

Great! why didn't you say that, ok so if the spark plug is wet then it is being flooded with to much fuel. Was the bike dropped or something is the Muffler on it and the pipe?
Try this disconnect the Air Box tube from the carb and see it then wants to fire. Lefty |
the pipe is on it and it has been moved around a bit while taking off the front end off.my neighbor wrecked it last month and the gas is over a month old.i did take the air cover box off and filter but it still didn't try to start

Yes, but only if the spark is yellowish if the spark is BLUEISH then it is fine. But you can always try a new plug won't hurt and it might help.
Check the Slider in the carb take the air tube off an see if you can see the Slide down. Maybe when the accident happened it jammed the Slider in the open position and that would let a lot of fuel in. Lefty http://www4.picturepush.com/photo/a/...0/13840802.jpg |
