Instead of battery chargers starting home fires. Battery swap stations.

A whole lot of truisms here. Without foaming at the mouth I've been to the land of a certain European brand. They have their maintenance issues too. Over 14k on two oil changes! The 139QMB 50cc is a workhorse. Even at 14,000 km of the gauge is deceptive.

A Vespa celebrating something Chinese. Seems like a conflict of interest. That much money for a 150cc?

Could this be the trend here in the US too?

Part 2 of the Vespa survey.

I liked the "fair amount of blown engines due to high oil consumption". In fairness the problem occurs during break in but many people don't even think about checking their oil as quickly as it's consumed during that time.

Imagine a Honda with "Classic" styling and some 160cc Honda power.

That Honda Stylo 160 is sharp! I know the US market won't get them though. I almost got a Honda PCX 160 but have been told Honda recommends the valves be checked something crazy, like every 2000 miles AND its a PITA to get to the valves. I never verified this with my local Honda dealer though, I just purchased a Genuine Buddy 125 instead. I know my way around them pretty well. But I would verify those crazy Honda rumors if we got that dope Stylo 160 in the USA!

I can't imagine that a Honda would need that kind of valve check after the initial post sale adjustment. The recommended distance between adjustments on a Chinese scooter is about 2400 miles but I found that it wasn't necessary after the first two for a good long time. You would think that wear would be minimal on a Honda built with Japanese materials.

I'm thinking you'll find that to be true on your Buddy. Unless someone flogs the living crap out of a scooter the valves settle in after a while.
