Maximize Top Speed
I keep reading that all the upgrades i do including big bore kit wont.give me anymore top speed...on a generally flat or slight down hill WOT i can get to 40 at 9k rpm. I will be doing the big bore kit from a local vegas dealer. As well as a new carb and cam shaft. What can i do to increase my top speed and still be at or belowe 8k rpm. With out sacrificing too much acceleration.

Weights and clutch.

with those rpms i would say go atleast a gram higher on your weights.i bought a performance variator and i get better take off and top end and my rpms are 1000 lower

regardless of the roller weight....at some point the rpm will eventually start rising as you reach the variator's limit ...and also what is your weight?...this has a large effect on what rollers to run. I am 165lbs and use 5g rollers in my Ruckus to get a solid 55mph out of my machine...very comfortable at 45-50mph cruising.
First off I would check your current variator/weights/belt for wear....these can reduce top speed significantly if they are wearing out. then I would look into a larger variator(assuming your belt/drive pulley can accommodate more shift-out). Larger weights will drop the RPM at a given speed until you run out of room on the variator. The clutch wont help top speed...just acceleration from a stop. |
posey24 you could replace your rear gears. drop 1 and 1 or 2 and 2(teeth ) on the gears . That is what I'm getting ready to do on my Eton Sport 50. Good Luck

Etons are REALLY high geared, they are already set for high-end top speed. my Eton Beemer hits 50+ mph on flats with the stock gears. The biggest gain I've hit came from the variator and clutch upgrades. I weigh 210lbs.
