Orange Spark
So I've been having nothing but problems with my 50cc taotao.
I rebuilt the carb and replaced the jets and got it running. Then it died on my coming home from work. I took the spark plug out and check the spark it was ORANGE... I thought it was supposed to be a blue spark? Anyone familiar with this problem? |
sounds like you need a coil
|
Hi
I would try a new plug first but it does indeed sound like your coil is not putting out what should Take care and ride safely Yours Hank |
A friend at work said put a capful of gas in the cylinder and if it starts, its a fuel problem, if it doesn't, it's a spark problem..
Can anyone confirm this? |
Damn! I just put some fuel in my cylinder and it started for a minute. SO I took the seat off and noticed that there is no fuel in the NEW fuel filter I just put in...
I got the smallest fuel filter that they had at autozone ... do you have to get the smaller scooter one for a 50cc.. it's definitely not flowing through the filter HELP |
Its not the fault of the filter that fuel is not flowing. Have you checked the petcock?
|
Even something like a kinked line...
|
try starting it with the fuel line off.if no fuel comes out you probably have a bad fuel pump,(petcock)
|
I took the line off the fuel filter output (to petcock) and it still didn't flow. I took the line off the filter input (from gastank) and there was fuel there. I just don't understand, I just replaced the petcock and filter. The ONLY thing is it's a little bigger than the old one that was on there. I even took the vacuum line off the intake manifold and sucked on it to see if I could get it flowing....
|
maybe the gas tank's not venting.. I woke up this morning and now there's fuel in the filter. I'm gonna get a new one just in case and drain some of the fuel and cut some of the rubber gasket off the gas tank cap.
|
I would try to remove the cap while it's low on fuel and see how it runs for a short run if the filter has fuel flowing then it's a vent issue and if it vents through the cap that might where the problem is. cutting a gasket could spill fuel all over while riding.
