scooter questions.

I weight about 200 lbs. Shouldn't a 2014 tao tao thunder with a 80cc bbk have no problems throwing me down the road at 40-45 mph? I ride all year round as long as the roads aren't slippery. The mechanics at the shop I bought it from told me to let the scooter warm up for 10-15 minutes before riding it. Also how do I adjust the speedometer so that it is accurate?

Break it in first then go for the mods. Then you can change rollers, go for a performance variator and put on a free breathing air filter.

I put almost 300 miles on it then had the bbk installed. Getting a cdi and coil in the mail today. Ordering a performance variator and final drive gears next week. Then comes the exhaust. Trying to get it to do 50-55.

You still have to break in the new barrel and piston/rings. That is another 300 to 1000 miles before it's all seated in. Believe me when I tell you these GY6 engines take a while to become fully broken in. My 150cc scooter is not the same now as it was when it had 1,000 miles, or another 3,000 miles or yet another 3,000 miles. Patience is the buzzword with these motors. You can bore them out, change the gearing and maybe get them up to 55 mph-once.

After that you'll be rebuilding, replacing parts and fixing for a long time. Seriously, if you need 55 mph an 80cc scooter is not the way to go. Even a 150 is starting to breathe hard at that speed. Think motorcycle or 250cc scooter.
