Been about a year since I've been on here. Can't find my old posts to reference. But I was finally able to afford buying a cheap used 2014 taotao 50cc standard model chinese scooter yesterday. It has 2,450 miles on it. The guy hasn't replaced the belt,spark plug or oil in it. I'm not sure how it was driven to be broken in. So I'm deffinetly looking at changing them 3 things right off the bat. I know I need a decent plug like a cr7hix correct? and what oil and belt is best recommended for it never have being changed and the mileage on it? The bike appears to run pretty good. Warms up for about 2 minutes then the tire stops spinning. Only problem that i have so far which I think is normal is until the bike has been driven for a while when I come to a stop sign and go to take off the bike will stall unless i twitch the throttle a couple times to get it going again. Oh yeah one last question. This bike doesn't have a tach for the RPM. The guy that sold it said to keep the speedo out of the red. which is right at the 30mph mark. I had someone drive along side me and when I was at 30mph they said I was doing 25 (still going to test with gps) but my question is since the scooter can still go faster than the 30mph reading 25 actual is it unsafe for the motor to go past that 30mph mark like he said? every scooter i've had i take off slow but i eventually get up to as fast as it will go (speed limit permitting lol) :thanks: And glad to finally have a reason to be back here.
