New to Scooters!
Hello all!
I bought a storage locker that had a scooter in it. I am excited to keep the scooter and have a few questions... It is a Bronc Adventure 150 cc with about 400 miles..so it's a Chinese gy6? Seems to run ok with one issue. While throttling, it bogs for a second, then continues to accel with no issues. Next, I have read horror stories about Chinese Scoots, so where can I learn about the scooters as I know nothing! What would you upgrade first that is very easy? The only thing I care about is reliability. Thanks for all your help!! |
I'd start with a basic tune up and carb cleaning. probably a GY6. Post pics.

Tune up complete
Ok...so I completed a tune up. Cleaned the carb, changed oil and gear oil, new battery, and adjusted the valves. Runs a lot better.
Still have one issue. When throttling, when I get between 3000 and 4000 rpm, it sputters, bogs, and backfires. Once I'm over 4000, runs like a charm. What's next? |
Either a vacuum leak or the idle mixture need adjusting. The idle mixture screw is on the left side up on the carburetor. Screw it all the way down and then back it out two and a half turns.

If you don't have a licence to ride a bike than go take the class ASAP. But honestly if your working on your own bike you probably have one. Just a friendly reminder. :)
Welcome to the nut house by the way! |
Thanks! Very new but did get my permit. Taking a basic class in the spring to get my license.
However, how would I check for a vacuum leak? |
Start the scooter and spray the carb and intake manifold with WD-40. I the engine sound changes or the idle increases you have a leak somewhere. Also look for cracked, broken and not connected vacuum lines.

Thanks!
Thanks all! It was the emissions. It was clogged. The scooter is up and running like a top!

Man it's nice to read of a successful rejuvenation.
