rollers vs sliders
Am I correct in assuming that a slider will stay longer in smaller gear than a roller at acceleration, while at deceleration it acts more tardy (stays in lower engine rpm)?
If so, is there anyone who could explain how it functions different from each other in operation. |

Thanks for the vid!
I'm contemplating to buy some for my taotao ATM 50. Where would be a cheap place to buy good quality sliders, and how do you usually tune it?, by buying a set, and trying out what works, or are most sliders predetermined by cc's? |

I would get a roller tuning kit and experiment until you find the proper weight foryour performance needs, i have a set and find them to be an invaulable aid in tuning your cvt Once you find the weight i go up one gram in weight for sliders versus rollers So if a 6 gram roller is perfect i would go with 7 gram sliders Good brands are DR Pulley's ( i use them in all my scoots) or NYC Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank |
I personally use sliders, but in a stock variator and feel 0% difference from any other rollers with the same weight. Perhaps one needs to also put a new specialized variator to get the full performance effect..? I don't know, maybe next time I'd again go for sliders, but only because they say sliders wear out safer and don't dis-balance the crank when they do (don't know if that's true either).
