It's definitely different. 50cc water cooled 2stroker. 18 inch wheels w/ spokes. Hard tail w/ sprung seat. Don't think I would not want go stated 55mph w/ that setup.
But to each his own, LOL.

Its a great looking bike and appears well built. It would certainly be much faster than a bicycle with a common motor kit like the 2T Happy Time motor or 4T Huasheng . Since the power rating and multi-gear transmission require a motorcycle license in most states, I think they would sell more units by upping the displacement to 125cc or so.
I didn't see a price on the site. It would be nice if the price was competitive with 50cc scoots.

That's just too cool. I like it.

Too much for a 50cc machine. That will buy a new Ninja 300.

You can build yourself something similar to the Janus, but with far less speed, looks and quality for $500 or less. Good for 20-25 mph.
The Phantom motorbike (pictured below) is kind of half way between the $500 DIY and Janus.
It looks great, goes 30 mph, and requires no tag/insurance in most states.
Bicycle and Engine Kit $ 1750.00 -IN STOCK. You can get it for $600 less if you assemble it yourself.

I think it's time for an intervention Hank!

I didn't know you had that much interest in motor bikes, inuyasha, until I read your linked thread! The only thing I'm wondering is how long would it long would it last? I know the bike would be w/ a reinforced frame, but still... I know practically nothing about motorbicycles...

Love the retro look of the Phantom bike. Janus has always been one of my favorite models. Don't own one yet but it is a goal I am shooting for.

wheelbender6 02-04-2014 06:54 PM

These are the two motorbikes I built.
I sold them when I moved because the roads near my current place have higher speed limits.
I was always tinkering with them. I added a bobber seat shock and faux oil tank to the cruiser before I had to sell it.
