1983 Yamaha Riva 180 no spark problem

I was working on getting my Riva 180 that I picked up for $100 and I pulled the carb, cleaned all the jets, checked all the lines and put a new battery in. At first I was getting spark so I thought I was good, then there was a freak 10 minute rain/hail storm in my town and the scooter got exposed. Now I get no spark. I test the voltage coming from the end of the spark plug coil wire and it's reading 12V and when I turn over the engine, it drops about a volt.

I think the TCI ignitor unit might be dead. Anyone have any tips on how to test this or fix the problem altogether? Or any other suggestions that I might not have thought of?

before you get too carried away, dry off the electrical connections, and check for good clean tight connections. Then bench test the coil with your DMM, and check for battery voltage to the coil. If everything checks good, the TCI may have failed.

I may have a generic schematic for the TCI type ignition.

I used my DMM and checked the Ohms on the Coil, and got no reading at all when following the service manual instructions. This part: http://www.oaktreevintage.com/web_ph...61_collage.jpg

When I took apart the TCI box, the circuit board looked good and all the solder points on the board were fine. It's most likely the coil...
