Vacuum petcock is the first thing that goes in the trash and gets replaced with a manual one or an on/off inline valve. Have had way too many issues with them in the past.

As for the shroud, yes you have to run one. On stroker kits the factory plastics have to be trimmed to fit.

Water shouldn't be a problem unless you have been puddle jumping in it on a regular basis. Yes it can soak the filter but you really have to be driving in pouring own rain or trying to hit every pot...

First thing I would do is put the stock cdi back on it and see if it still does it. I'd also ditch that spark plug and get a good NGK. I've yet to see any chinese spark plug that was any good.
