Mine does, but it tends to read full until maybe...

Mine does, but it tends to read full until maybe half a tank or so. Maybe the float is stuck? Mine is also a Hyosung, so could be a completely different beast.

Probably a wire got loose or was never connected...

Probably a wire got loose or was never connected from the factory. Follow the wiring to the gauge and the tank sensor. Make sure it's not disconnected anywhere.
