More like downhill skis that you can use to go uphill as well by putting skins on the bottom. The bindings are designed to leave your heel free for ascending, and locked-in for the descent. This is a common setup for backcountry skiing, also called "alpine touring".
These particular skis are wood core with a carbon fiber layup, which makes them extremely light, but also very stiff. Easier for going uphill, and just as much fun as heavier boards on the way down.
