Just for grins and giggles I went by the local Vespa dealer here in Dallas. It was blatantly apparent at the build quality TaoTao vs a Vespa. BUT, the Vespa just cost tooooo much IMHO.
Cut the price in half for what they are asking and you are probably near the real world worth. They didn't throw me out based on what I rode in. I just walked around and looked at the scooters and the price tags. Actually they greeted me with out being prompted to and when I said I was just window shopping they didn't hassle me. This is unlike the scooter shop I did buy from. There I had to chase a salesman down and tell him I wanted to buy before they paid any attention to me.
