I recently had the same problem after I siphoned gas out of my tank into a dirty container.then poured the same gas back in. Engine cut off at acceleration. Pulled out the petcock and their was dirt around the end of it and all around the inside of the petcock filter going into the tank. Replaced the petcock and filter, (first poured a gal of hot water thru the tank and let it drain where the petcock was) and problem went away.
