Having worked on cycles for years , there is one constant that I have found-4strokes develop their power from torque & 2strokes develop their power from R.P.M. In that case , a 4stroke engine will last much longer then a 2stroke! My last bike before , I moved to Florida was a 1971 chopped Triumph Bonneville that I had done a .010 overbore on , many years ago. I had run it hard & I wouldn't have hesitated to take it on a coast to coast trip , as old as it was! It was a 650cc 4stroke.

P.S. I also used to run that bike at the Drag Strip , so the engine certainly wasn't babied! 12.2 in 1972. That isn't that fast now but we're talking 1972! It was also my street bike. I made a lot of money doing (illegal) street drags.
