Since the install, I adjusted the valves and replaced the plug. The one I removed was relatively black; after some changes and a little time, I’ll check it again.
I modified my stock airbox, slightly, by enlarging 2 of the 3 holes and reset the idle mixture screw back to the factory setting (1.5 turns out). It was slightly more than that at 2 turns. I think it runs much better with the increase in airflow; it seems to idle smoother and runs great at speed.
I took it for a nice ride Sunday, 52 miles, round trip, calculated the mileage ... for the first time ... 73.8 MPG.

I notice that the oil level drops frequently ... not drastic. I just have to top off, every so often. All previous oil changes were break-in and only short term; there has been nothing significant on the screen or magnetic plug. I'm using conventional, 10w40 and have no leaks, nor smoke. There are 680 miles on it.
Is it possibly just the rings taking time to seat?
