No lines run from the canister to the carb, Just one line from the fuel filter, and one vacuum line to the right side of carb. That's it. No fuel should be in canister. A vent line from the fuel tank goes to the canister, (or to a check valve of some kind, and then to canister). All other lines from canister connect somewhere on air filter box. Photo isn't the best, but there was nothing attached to the end of canister you are showing in your pics.
