It wont matter performance wise what style you use as long as you use a gasket and it seals correctly. On our Zuma scooters we use the metal ones with the stock exhaust because they seal great and never leak. With most aftermarket exhaust we get stuck using fiber flat style ones. Just make sure the exhaust gasket you use doesn't block any exhaust flow. I've seen it happen before from a wrong size gasket being used.
