110/100-12 Front tire

Just an FYI. If you use this size tire, you know your options are limited and expensive. I just ordered one from Chaparrel on eBay for $39.88, everyone else wants $75 for that Bridgestone ML17A.

Got my tire, date code June, 2017, excellent! got it on today. Turns out, the tire that was on there was a 110/90-12. Don't know why, there is a guy on YouTube that says that is the right size for a Helix/clone. All the documentation I can find, including the manual for my clone, says 110/100-12. That's a 10% difference in tire profile. My speedometer read 3-4 mph high, according to those speed signs on the road. With this new tire, the speedometer is dead on. I don't know why some people think the 110/90-12 is the right tire for this bike, they're wrong. Love the tire, cruises over bumps and imperfections smoother due to the wider radius, and for $40, that's basically half price for that tire.

Yeah, but now your odometer is likely off. For bikes, often speedometers are generally
optimistic with the stock tire yet the odometer is pretty close to accurate... That
changes when you put on a taller tire; it makes the speedometer more accurate at
the cost of odometer accuracy. A taller tire in that case will cause the odometer to
read lower than actual since the taller tire will turn fewer revolutions per mile because
of the longer distance around the circumference of the tire.

The exact opposite will happen if the new tire is smaller than the stock tire (not as tall)
except that both the odometer AND the speedometer will not reflect actual measure of
distance and speed. In that case the odometer would report more miles than actually
ridden and the speedometer would read an even higher than actual speed than what a
stock tire already does.

One needs to take that into account when changing to tires of differing diameter than
stock tires... (on the wheel that drives the speedometer and odometer anyway. Some
bikes use the rear wheel to drive the gauges while others use the front wheel)

I firgured it the other way, if I understand what you're saying. with my speedo reading high, I figure my odo is high also. It was designed to use the 110/100-12, not the 110/90-12. But, it IS CHINESE, so.... I just turned 10,000 miles just before my tire change. I figure it's probably more like 9500 or something. When I got the scooter it read 2100 miles. By looking at it, you could believe it, but now that I've had it a couple years and worked on it a bit, either that mileage is way low, or whoever had it mucked around and didn't have a clue what they were doing. That tire that was on it was a 110/90-12, the manual with the bike said it required a 110/100-12. So I just can't believe they installed the wrong tire at the factory, so someone changed it. And the original tire didn't wear out in less that 2100 miles. So I don't know how many miles are on this thing. Doesn't matter now, I know it well and I like it. It runs great, the oil coming out of it is almost as clean as it was when it went in. BTW, mine uses the front wheel to drive the speedo/odo. It's a cable.

Well, maybe it is different with some Chinese bikes, but the usual thing is as I stated... You could check it against a known measure of miles via GPS or mile markers on a highway. It would need to be a long enough ride to determine the actual difference (if any) to be sure...The more miles ridden that way would give more accurate results. But then it may not really matter that much to you anyway since it would probably be off only by a small percentage. (but maybe as high as 7%)

No. The tire for a Helix clone is the 110/90-12. It was the original tire on my CF Moto Fashion and the manual says the same. The 110/100-12 is the original front on a real Helix. The choice of the clone tires is much bigger and cheaper. I put a Shinko on mine.

The manual with my CFMOTO says 110/100-12, so that's what I put on.

It's what I have, the tire on the bike was OEM when I picked it up with 1900 miles.

Once again, the Honda Helix came with the 110/100-12 OEM but not the Chinese clones.

Since it's only 10mm difference, not sure what kind of difference it makes, there's lots of room for it.

Did a little googling. I think mine is a Qlink Commuter, though I can't find a 2005. In Fact, I can't find a 2005 Fashion either. But I was looking at the specs for the 2009 and 2007 Qlink Commuter, and there is a huge difference in front tire profile. So it looks like they changed it often.

The tire that was on it should have been the original, if the 2100 miles was correct, and that was a 110/90-12, but the manual says 110/100-12. So...go figure. In conclusion, I figure the Chinese don't know WTF they're doing.

Don't blame the Chinese. In the early days the importers here were to blame. They ordered scooters with junk components, offered no support and disappeared weekly. Hit and run marketing was the norm and very few are still around. The new generation of sellers are typified by Wolf, Bintelli and Lance. They only sell through dealers, import better quality scooters and not only support them with parts and service but track warranty issues to get improvements in product.

Fortunately there are people like Parts for Scooters that sell the parts to keep our older scooters on the road.
