Tons can be done but we really need to know what has been done and what you are limited to doing by class before throwing ideas out there.

The only class restriction in youth classes is nothing over 500cc

Well your not gonna get a gy6 over 232 so that is that. So what has been done? You have a weight kit to tune the variator? Big bore kit or it still 150cc? Final gearing ratio? Carb work? Head work? Cam size? Just about everything you do to a big engine can be done to these but on smaller engine small bits seem to have greater effects. On a v8 you can run a size or 2 big on the jets and not really notice but you do it on a single cyl it basically floods it all to crap.

Its cool your son like drag racing. I can't get mine out of the dirt and mud. When I was a kid dad had a 69 malibu with a 468. By the time I was 16 I was doing the 1/8th in a luv with a 327. Drag racing is still my love I just never got into 2 wheels. I can't be much help with a gy6 in a straight line but I've tuned the one on my son's buggy to do just about everything it can with what I learned racing and building chevy v8s.
