Advice '08 BMS Heritage
I know nothing about scooters. With that I have the opportunity to purchase a 2008 BMS Heritage with 300 miles. The owner is asking $900. Is this model and year a pile of junk. The current owner states:
It is not driving at the moment (I tried it earlier this evening) Basically it's turning over but it acts like the battery is dead.I brought that battery to NAPA and they said it in itself was perfectly fine, just needed a good trickle charge. So I did that, and it ran great for awhile, and now it's acting like the battery is dying again. So this could be, you need to buy a new battery, this could also be a voltage regulator problem. We don't have time to figure that out, which is why we aren't fighting anyone willing to make a decent offer. You will need a motorcycle license to drive this, is does go up to 60mph (70-80 if you ask their site but I would never push that) and it is highway ready. Any advice is appreciated! |

It sounds like a bad regulator/rectifier. The only way to test it is to get the scooter running and check across the terminals. It should be putting out 13.5 volts or more. That's also too much money for a seven year old scooter. KBB says anywhere from $480 to $835 for a 2010. That was the first year I could find the Heritage listed.
