help
I have a jonway 49cc that is running funny, it seems like it is flooding. I have changed the throttle cable 6 months ago, i have spark on the plug, and gas through the filter. i start it without giving gas it idles fine, but when i give it gas beyond 1/2 throttle it sputters and will die within 5 minutes like the engine is flooded. i can restart without gas and it will run for 1 or 2 min then nothing, no restart. i let it sit for a day or so and it starts again the same way
thanks Vern |

Jets too big? Sounds like it's running way rich. What does the plug look like after this?

Another thing that can cause this is a paritally clogged idle jet. This is the small jet offset from the main jet under the bowl of the carb. Again will require cleaning. One more thing is that it could be that you need to adjust your valves. We set ours to .004 inch both intake and exhaust. |

Do what he says above and if it isn't puddling pull the plug after it "floods" and see if it's wet. It could be flooding but it could also be insufficient/weak spark
