GY6 150cc CVT issue
Clutch slips and jerks during initial acceleration when clutch is engaging. This happens up to somewhat 3000RPM then runs smooth. The issue gets worse when my wife or kid gets on back.
Recently I changed my clutch. Old one had 12K mileage on it. So, changed to same model racing clutch with 2000RPM Springs. Variator is the same with 14g slider weights. Belt is also fairly new; no cracks or sign of wear. I don't know if it is related or not, but, I feel less jerking when my 8 liter fuel tank is full. It increases as tank starts to deplete. My fuel tank is on the front, so it could be weight distribution or fuel pressure. What do you think, is my clutch is engaging too early when engine does not have enough power to move or clutch is engaging too late when rotation speed is too high for gear engagement? |

Issue resolved
In case anyone else run into the same issue, here's how I fixed it -
My scooter was running lean due to dirty vacuum fuel pump. Which was worsening the clutch slippage issue during the initial pickup. Cleaned the pump and changed the fuel filter leading to the pump. That partially solved the issue. Fully solved the issue by sanding the clutch bell. The bell of the new clutch I installed had micro dust and rust on it. |
