Chinese scooter starting mods
Ok I was starting to enjoy the bike as stock, but the more I drove the more I realized what I could tweak, this will be my slowest build. First I changed stock clutch springs to yellow (raised RPMs to almost 4k before take off) which had the reverse affect I thought and increased top end. First day of riding take off was a little better and reached 80mph (8mph more).
Second the stock muffler (Chinese) crapped out (everything inside crumbled). So I modded a zxr1100 muffler to fit (Craigslist), sounds a lot better (more of a two stroke). |

remove airbox, install pod filter, and rejet the carburetor or better yet install a racing carb and pod filter or EFI system depending on your budget for mods. Then tune the CVT for the additional power. If you want you could do an upgraded variator while youve got the transmission apart. All other things being equal, you will need lighter rollers/sliders with more power as the engine generates more rotation, which generates more centrifugal force on the rollers. That and a KNM cdi/coil combo is about the extent of the serious performance mods outside of rebuilding the motor with a BB kit, new cylinder head, porting/polishing, crank, etc.

Yeah I know. I've built a complete gy6 with a complete engine overhaul. I spent a little over 3k on it.
Im going to get a variator/ weights and clutch/Bell, the carb is already tuned. Air box is already allowing a lot of airflow, I hit 76 easily. |
