"Threat Has Been Detected"

http://i44.tinypic.com/1e6yqs.jpg Every single time I come to this site my Avast freaks out at me saying a trojan horse has been blocked. What's up with that?

Mine does that also. It causes me to not come here very often. I've seen no damage yet, but I do have to wonder. What's this world coming to when you can't trust your scooter forum?

It's pretty messed up. I'm sure it's just a false positive or something, but it's still annoying. Either way, I've been going to ItIsTheRide more often because of it.

I've been working as a computer technician for over six years. If anything, Avast is over-protective (especially compared to Norton) and, like I said, it's probably just a false positive. 1: I never blamed scootdawg, I simply asked "what's up with that?". There's a huge difference; maybe a thesaurus would help? 2: Paid, or free, Avast still signals every time I visit the site. It should be a concern when even my tablet's antivirus won't let me use the smileys on this site especially considering the hundreds of potential new users visiting the site with a similar antivirus now scared off because of a simple false positive. 3: There obviously is some reason for it or it wouldn't be going off in the first place. I'm an absurdist, and still, I think there's some reason here. 4: You may be a moderator, but I still don't appreciate being told what to do. Seriously. Not even a "please"? As in "please don't blame scootdawg...". I come to this site, out of all the scooter sites on the web, I buy from your sponsors, I contribute what information I can, I work hard to be a good member. Then I'm treated like this? For trying to notify you guys of an issue I'm having? Seriously? The only point that I'm trying to make is that if I'm having an issue with my antivirus, then chances are so are a lot of other people which would easily scare off a new user. I'm an experienced long time user and I'm still put off by the messages I'm getting from my antivirus, not because I think they're a serious threat, but because it's just annoying. EDIT: Avast is disabling the formatting and smilies, sorry for this hard to read message.

Thank you, Admin. That is a very professional response, I don't believe there ever was anything to worry about, it's just something I thought I should bring to you guys' attention.

Thanks. Yea for some reason Avast has a problem with us. I've been going back and forth with them for a couple months now, but their support is plain horrible.

I am, as well, IT. Hence the screen name. lol
With over ten years of experience, I have learned a lot.
And, in the past 5 years, I can say that Avast AV is next to useless.
Norton is better than McAffee, who is above Avast and AVG. Trend Micro is about in par with McAffee. The problem with Norton, is that is uses to much of the System Resources. Not only is it to 'Clunky' on the OS, it is also rather bothersome with its updates and notifications. And its cost...
That all said, the AV I use personally, on all my servers and net management, and recommend to all my customers is Vipre.
At half the cost, 1/10th the resource usage, ease of use and 'quietness' of notifications, you cannot get a better deal. Not to mention it is an AMERICAN company.

Also, I have never had any problem with viruses, or alerts, from this site. I am constantly running a servers that has one job: Eliminate web based bugs BEFORE they enter my network.

I am also an ISP for the county. At over 500 clients, my gear works overtime, all the time. lol

I run a Mac, so I tend to not get viruses

I don't have the option of going to ITTR because I have tried to sign up/sign in in twice now and it wont send me my registration email.

The cure is to dump windows and microshaft, I been using linux over ten years exclusively and have yet to get any thing as in virus trojans etc. Not too bad considering the computer is online 24/7 and runs typically 6 months or more before rebooting. john
