Smoke out of exhaust flange
I am sorry if this has already been answered somewhere, but I am a little new to the scooter world.
I recently performed a valve adjustment due to stalling out when braking and inconsistent idling. After the adjustment it looks like steam or smoke coming from the exhaust flange ( where the exhaust meets the engine ) It isn't a lot of smoke, but it's enough to notice. It starts after less than a minute of the bike being on. But it did start up first try, unlike before the adjustment. Did I do something wrong? I have a Roketa MC-54-250B Scooter. Thank you for any help I can get. |

Welcome to ScootDawg.
Maybe its just a little oil burning off from having the valve cover off. |

It looked like a lot of oil to me that came out when I took the exhaust cover off... around a half cup maybe. so I took a towel and wiped what I could up... I don't wanna burn up anything in the engine... my valve adjustment was .010 intake and .000 exhaust. Now it is .004 and .6 exhaust.
The smoke looks like its coming from inside the engine, just leaking out between exhaust and engine. Last edited by Hegira7; 08-27-2013 at 08:52 AM. Reason: added info. |

Sounds like your gasket did nt seal correctly. Maybe something to check out, remve it and put it back on making sure there is no debris and gasket is in right place

Thank you.
I am not sure what exactly the problem was... might have been a combination of things, but i reset the seal and used the cleaner to get up the oil... seems to be working fine now, but I only tested it for a few miles.
Thank you! |
