Either or..however most Scoots since 2006 already come with unrestricted CDI's. Also most all of the 'Name Brand' CDI's are made by the same company in Taiwan as the 'Generic' brand 'cheapie' ones you see. Difference is..one has a name brand stamped on it so you pay more for the same thing. Lastly most are 'fixed advance' so at idle if it is 12 degrees advanced..it is also 12 degrees at full throttle. Full throttle may see a SLIGHT power gain..but the 'too far advanced' ignition makes starting difficult. MANY here have tried them..including me..and saw no improvement in power or speed at all.. just more difficult starting especially when it's cold outside. The extra fuel from the auto enricher 'auto choke' and advanced timing at idle..make it want to struggle to crank and sometimes even kick back.. So many buy 'advancing angle' or adjustable CDI's so you can avoid this or in the case of the adjustable one..you can fine tune your advance.

just installed the NCY today and it made a big difference with the power of my scoot, my RPM's also went up but i think thats normal, when i rev it up, it revs up with more torque
