After sitting under a pine-tree for the last three years, I rescued this E-Ton. I re-built the entire fuel system, and electrical, installed a new master-cylinder and caliper. I took it for it's first ride. The clutch sticks, and the CVT needs some love, but it hit 45+ mph! That's sick fast for a 50cc!

I'm digging it.

A few days ago I put a new tire on the Fashion. This last tire went 6,150 miles. I'll get a lot of practice replacing tires at this rate.

I took a 21 mile ride to get things good and warm....then pulled the drain plugs on the engine and transmission. Had run 611 miles on the engine oil, and 2502 miles on the transmission.....was time to dump and refill.

And KZ.....if I could get over 6000 miles on a drive tire, I'd be acting like this guy..

I guess a little attitude adjustment is in order. My motorcycles were getting eight to ten thousand out of cheaper tires. Then again the first tire on the Fashion only lasted 4,375 so I should be happy with this last one.

On another forum we have been having a discussion about putting a car tire on the rear of the Honda Silverwing scooter.
The following is about what I did...................

[[[[ Part of a message from a previous post of mine at that site ]]]]
Subject: Re: Darkside and ABS Yesterday at 8:19 pm bandito2 wrote:

Ended up going out and buying back a 2006 Reflex that I restored and sold to a friend instead of putting
the 175/70R13 car tire on and testing..... Looks like another chance for that on Monday.

[[[[ I did the follow-up in this posting]]]]
So today (Monday Nov. 3, 2014) I put the 175/70R13 on the bike and went out for a 200.7 mile ride to see
how it would do. Yes it fits on the bike fine without clearance issues and I never noted any noises or noticed
any tire rubbing on the underside of the storage space beneath the seat. The speedometer matches the GPS
pretty close speed wise, but the odometer is off by a couple percent with that tire.

It tends to keep the bike rolling longer when off the throttle and actually has a nicer feel to it and corners nicer
than the 165/65R13. The 165/65R13 is a little more square shouldered than the 175/70R13 so that may be why.
I thought it might help with fuel economy, but a 4 mpg improvement seemed not such a big deal to me.
The brakes worked only as standard brakes do. The rear wheel I had the 175/70R13 mounted to is a non-ABS
wheel and is not drilled and threaded for the pulser ring. The bike naturally is easier to get up onto the center
stand, but leans over further when using the side stand.

So the question still remains whether the taller 175/70R13 car tire will have a negative effect on the ABS.
With no pulser ring on the rear, the ABS never got past the start up self test and so the ABS light stayed on
the entire time with no error flashing. I may get the wheel drilled and tapped so a pulser ring will mount to it
sometime in the future.

So that is my initial impressions of the 175/70R13 car tire after only a 200 mile ride. I really would have liked
to test the ABS function with that tire. Maybe somebody else can if they use a tire like that with an ABS Silverwing.
Otherwise, I won't be doing anything more about it until spring.

No more scooting this year....at least here in Western New York. Time for tinkering....so I replaced the amber reflectors on the front sides of my scoot, with these LED's, for added safety when turning. Don't ride at night, so didn't bother to wire the running light portion....just the turn signals.

Surprised at how bright they are....and at $6.76 for the pair (shipped), they are a bargain.

Cleaned the carburetor when I noticed the idle speed would go down when the pilot jet screw went in but not when it went out. Now it works fine going down when either rich or lean.

Changed the oil to a blend of 1/2 regular 10-40 and 1/2 Mobil 1 synthetic at 28,614 miles.

Gave the 2006 Honda FSC 600A Silverwing (Jester) & 2006 Honda Reflex Sport (Sovereignty) much needed baths. It got too late to wax & plastic polish them but that's a little task for tomorrow. (gotta make them look nice for the gig on Sunday)

I'm getting things ready for the 2nd Annual Spring Tune Up & BBQ on Sunday May 3. (A gathering of shiftless characters) I'm cooking BBQ country style ribs, corn on the cob ..... the usual stuff you know. There will be 6 of us scooter guys from around area (+ 1 guy's wife) that I managed to talk into joining. Last year there were only 4 of us but we still had a good time. Did some small projects... oil change & 1 of the guys added some LED lights to the rear of his scooter + lots of scooter talk. The weather is forecast to be absolutely beautiful!!! Mid to upper 70's, mosly sunny and NO RAIN!!! ( I put my order in for that way back in the winter)

Tomorrow got to move the vehicles out of the garage and to the road because were gathering in the garage mostly and all of the scooters the guys are riding will be in the driveway. (mine too)

Should be a great time again.

After only 10,595 miles the front tire on the Fashion needed to be replaced. I installed a Shinko SR-007 to replace the Cheng Shin it came with. In the last few moths I did the rear tire, new battery, new belt and the front tire. I checked the front brake pads when I had the tire out and they look like new. All ready for the riding season.

I took my scoot on a 60 mile round trip to work yesterday. My round trip commute distance jumped from 24 to 60 miles when I took a new job. Highest speed limit along the route is 45 mph, so my 125cc scoot kept up with traffic just fine.

With 616 miles operated so far this year, it was time to dump and refill the crankcase fluid. I get 5 oil changes out of my gallon jug of 15w/40....each one cost $2.69, and that includes the 8% sales tax our wonderful governor needs to run the state.

You know what's cool about these posts? No one is saying, "I just replaced the valves, barrel and piston because the old one was shot" anymore. Both the Chinese scooters and the people buying them are improving. Good job people.

Changed the oil and serviced the K&N air filter yesterday. Scoot now stands 7,608 miles, and all is well. Planned on doing a couple of other things at this mileage, like replace the original spark plug, and the drive belt that now has 6630 miles on it, and a valve clearance check. I decided to postpone doing those items, based on the fact that the scooter is running better than ever.

Fuel mileage for the 19 fill ups this year has averaged 89.13 mpg.....compared to last years' 84.9 mpg average for 30 fill ups. And even better, the last 10 tanks have averaged 90.44.

So I'm not going to try to fix something that isn't broken. Old belt, old spark plug, and valves that haven't been adjusted in 5,100 miles, all seem to be very happy, and doing their jobs just fine....in fact better than ever.
