Exclamation Modifying Drive Face/"Gear"???

So, on my old Honda Metro, there was a mod that you could do to the Drive Face...

It required "spinning" the drive face on a type of lathe, and then "shaving" it down some, in order to get a higher top speed. You could also take the "lip" off of the center of the drive face and that helped top end as well.

Honestly, this was one of the BEST mods I did to my Honda Metro CHF50!

That said, I see that NCY sells an aftermarket one for our 50cc GY6 Chinese "Knockoffs". But I also don't see where it's ANY DIFFERENT from our stock ones? So what gives?

So, question is!!!! Is there a way to modify our drivefaces, without messing up the gear part for the starter???

Or am I going to have to be the Ginny Pig?!

The NCY and KOSO 50cc performance variators are both larger than stock, and close fully. It is not possible to modify the stock driveface to be larger or have steeper slide tracks.

I'm not saying "make the variator bigger", but it IS good to know that the NCY Drive face is bigger AT LEAST! I think it's lighter as well, but don't quote me on it. The driveface mod I did to my Ruckus/Metro had nothing to do with "size", but rather "curving" the driveface to help acceleration and top end.

Not sure what you're saying... I have a 50mm BBK on a cheapo TaoTao!

Nonetheless, I pulled the Variator last night and did MINOR work to the driveface. Pretty much just "polished" it up and took down the center hole to a "flat", instead of a "bump". See what it does... I'm thinking about grabbing an extra and seeing if I can modify these things!

BTW, I looked... NCY Driveface is Aluminum and 115mm. Whereas my stock driveface is steel (I believe!) and only 110mm! So that CAN be an upgrade with a big ol 89mm Variator and correct Roller/Slider Weights!
