Top 10 Scooters for Campus Cruizin’

Nice spread of brands and prices but there are many misleading statements.

Good on them for recommending the Bentelli and TaoTao.
My expectation before I read the article was that they would pick only the higher priced Vespa/Piaggio/Honda/Yamaha types.

Two out of ten isn't bad... now to aim to get another two on there!

When I was in college in the 70s, I saw a few pedal mopeds on campus but no scooters. I think the scooters are better suited to campus duty with the extra cargo capacity, splash protecton and cvt tranny.

College kids around here buy them, drive them into the ground and then sell them cheap on Craigslist when they don't run any more. They're all 50cc though and I'm pretty happy with my 250.....

That was a pretty fluffy article. I think I'll trade in my Kymco Ag 50 for one of those Lance Cabos that goes 65 MPH.

I don't think that the popularity of 50cc Chinese scooters can be doubted anymore. In Myrtle Beach I saw many on the road each day, some rentals, some personal use. The 50cc GY6 engine is becoming a known commodity for long life. Are there 50cc scooters with better suspensions and body bits? Of course. But a Kymco, Lance or other brand name will cost at least twice as much. You can buy three or four 50cc Ruckus clones for the MSRP of an original.

That's good because you're going to need a reliable source of parts!

I'm half joking, I'm sure Chinese scooters are better than they used to be. I just have memories of finding parts on line for my Znen scooter based on pictures.

You should take a look at https://joshjourneys.com/

This is a Bintelli customer who has a 49cc Bintelli Scorch (Chinese made) and just completed a trip on it from Michigan to the Florida keys!

I want to try to scoot from Michigan to NYC.

There are a couple guys planning a 1200 mile scoot around Lake Michigan.

I only know this. I was talking to the rental owner of the picture above. He said to me, "If you buy a Honda you're just paying for the name. These scooters take a licking and keep on ticking."

If they were falling apart constantly I'm sure he would have not been endorsing them.
