Status on Electric Scooters

I just commented in the "Chew on This" thread about the electric Vespa that I wondered what Honda would bring to the table.

Their PCX scooter is now offered in an electric variant in Japan:

41 mile range @ 60 kph (37 mph) means in-town-only. This is more of a replacement for a Metropolitan.

Yamaha has their EC-3, which is even wimpier:

Bottom Line: No one is currently making an electric scooter that could legitimately replace anything bigger than 125cc. Looks like that's several years off.

My commute to work is 30 miles one way, and I need to be able to go at least 55 mph (actual). 65 would be better.
