gy6 150cc throttle issue with Velocity Stack

I have a weird issue when running a velocity stack on my forward-facing oko30mm carb on my 150cc gy6 swapped ruckus. It would bog when going immediately to WOT. It would also run very poorly at mid throttle cruising, but as soon as I put my hand a few inches away from the velocity stack opening, the engine runs great.



I'm thinking it's because too much air is getting into the engine due to the carb facing forward. I have seen other gy6s with forward-facing carbs running only velocity stacks and they don't have any throttle issues.
