Question CPI vs Yamaha BWS wheel drive splines same?

Hello I am wondering if anyone can confirm or deny if the CPI Tracker/JV50's "output shaft" is the same spline as the Yamaha BWS?

I know they have different size wheels... But I have a custom sprocket adapter made from a old CPI Rim. I am looking at replacing the motor (was CPI) and purchasing a very cheap BWS for the motor. I don't want to have to ruin a good BWS rear wheel to make a new sprocket.

This is on a trike build so I can mount the new motor/trans if I need to make brackets or what ever. I just need to be able to slide the sprocket onto the BWS power plant...

I know both are Mineralli style (kits and variatiors being equal) but the fact they have a long case or short for wheel size make me wonder what else may be different after the final drive gears.

If they are different splines.. is the final drive output shaft interchangeable? (take the CPI output and install in BWS box)

Nobody knows this?

I am surprised so many views but not one person knows if the 2005 BWS has same final output shaft as the CPI's ?

Lets try to word it this way,
If I wanted to upgrade the final drive gears in a 2005 CPI Oliver/JV50, do I need to order a special one or does the Yamaha BWS final drive gears fit in the CPI.

Another way to confirm is - I will count the splines on my CPI motor and see if anyone can confirm if BWS is the same.

If any one can confirm the Yamaha BWS (2003-2005) model has a 18 spline rear output shaft for the rear wheel/hub?

This is what is on the CPI motor now.

I have been thinking about this some more..
I think even if the spline is the same - the brake shoes/drum will be different?
I don't think I will be using the brakes on the motor as it will drive a axle that can then use disk brakes to stop the axle/wheels.
I am trying to avoid making a new sprocket adapter from the perfectly good BWS rear wheel.

Split ball with me here... I am going to look at the 2005 BWS with less than 1000km on it from a older couple this weekend & would be nice to know the spline is the same without having to remove wheel to find out. Almost a shame to pull the motor but will be put to good use.

I walked away from 2-strokes awhile ago but I've built many pre-bug and bug-eye 2-stroke Zuma's. I've also never seen a CPI anything in person, so I have no idea what will work.

Try Racing Planet for performance parts. They have a good selection of stuff and the site is easy to navigate. If I still had any extra stuff Zuma bug-eye 2-stroke related in the final drive area I would have sent you something to try. I even had 3 sets of wheels. A friend came up from Florida and took it all.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. You always hear of "cross compatible" parts but there is always something "different" to toss a wrench in your build plans. I agree with you wanting to confirm a fitment first.

But try Racing Planet and Scooter Tuning.CA. Both have a love of 2-stroke performance parts. I've dealt with both and never had any issues.

My wife had a Honda Silverwing scooter with a Motor Trike conversion. Man that thing was fun but it took up a lot of real estate in the garage. She sold it when she retired. Trikes are fun though!

I am trying to figure out what is valuable in the old CPI stuff, as these in my opinion are slightly better options.
The rear output /clutch shaft has a support bearing in the CVT case that is nice touch when really ripping on the transmission. Slightly bigger tire makes a different ride and I feel less "crowded" on a CPI over the BWS's. Internal wise they are almost identical, same kits/exhaust etc.
I digress..
I plan on some kind of custom leaning trike with whatever I come up with.. Like my gyro but WAY faster. Actually this build was originally for a rear clip and powerplant to swap into my gyro.
The BWS's I am looking at are cheap if I take both for under $1800can. I am considering a twin engine creation as well.. Do you think a CVT in two identical engines can act like a "differential" as in the inside wheel will more ore less tell the CVT to change "gears" because it is going "faster"? And of course the outside is doing the opposite? (this is of course with RPMS being equal).
Engine tuning is a different argument. it is the "differential" effect I am searching for...
