I still pop into the "other" web site and I've yet to see that huge GTS motor option linked on there yet. Honestly those guys are probably to busy chasing electrical gremlins to have their "other" brand of scooter running enough to do such a swap. I hate Piaggio's stupid P.A.D.S. diagnostic computer and the fact you need a dealers help should a check engine light come on. Neither of my P.A.D.S. equipped dealers know how to use the computer and want to throw parts at a problem, hence the reason I no longer own their products.
I bet that motor hauls serious butt though! I would LOVE to ride a GTS with that motor swapped into it. |

I saw a news story where a man in NYC got hit by an e Bike ending up with broken bones. He was all for licenses, registration and insurance. One bad apple ruining it for everyone.

Fun fact. Ebike and kick style Escooter sales have also slowed down the sales of 50cc mopeds in the USA as well. What is also of interest is there's a zillion ebike and escooter manufacturers that are flooding the market with cheaper and cheaper product. Even I own 2 sub-$1500 ebikes that I really love.
Bintelli is trying to get in the ebike game. So is Genuine Scooter Company. Yamaha has a ebike division now. Ducati as well. Just so many power sports companies getting into the ebike game that's already saturated. A friend and I are thinking about grabbing Genuine Rough House 2-strokes before Genuine has to quit importing them because of emissions. Both of us had tuned Zuna 2-strokes and we kinda miss the buzz of a stroker. But I did find a nice Vespa Rally 180 scooter that has my interest but there is a longish drive involved. I still want one more hurrah with a fun gas motor before I switch over to battery full time. |

CSC and Wolf are also selling ebikes. I was in a Lowes the other day and they had a Grom sized e motorcyle for $1995. It has a tiny range though according to the sales help. About 20 miles at 25 mph.

A new color is all the rage. Love those price quotes.
Owning and riding a Vespa is all about standing out. https://www.rideapart.com/news/72347...te-gray-japan/

My friend compares Vespa's with a supermodel with a heroin addiction. Everyone "wants" to be with her but she's not always worth the trouble because of all the drug drama. I would buy a Vespa in a second if I had good support, but I don't, so I'll stay away from their products. That GTV in the link you posted is a sexy supermodel (with a heroin addiction).

Here's my thing about Vespa and their owners. They don't deny that Japanese scooters are better but "Lack Class".
They think that Taiwan scooters are perfectly functional but "Lack Class" and that all Chinese scooters are junk. I have never had the money to worry about class. To me Beauty is as Beauty does. If a $5000 Kymco 300 will do everything that a $9000 Vespa 300 does, what's the point? If a $3000 Lance 200i or Kymco 150 Like will do everything a $6000 Vespa 150 does, what's the point? Belittling everything that isn't a Vespa is good if you have the money for MSRP and maintenance but it doesn't make them better in my world. There used to be a good blog called Justgottascoot by Dave Harrington. He road tested scooters when they were available. Yes, they weren't broken in but a 150 Vespa peaked out at 58 mph and a Liberty at about the same. Know what was faster? A Lance PCH 150 at 61 mph and the SYM Fiddle 3 at 62. The Lance and SYM are good scooters too. Your Buddy is probably going to put you to sleep not needing the fiddling the Liberty did. But it will get you to work every day, trouble free. What's the point?

I can be a scooter fashion whore sometimes (heck, most of the time). I still think the Liberty was one stylish looking scooter and I still miss it a little bit. But I've owned 3 Buddy's in the past so I guess I like them as well. I also find as I get older (mid-50's) that I'm starting to dread working on them. The Buddy is reliable AND easy to service. The Liberty wasn't bad to service but the computer nonsense drove me crazy.
I miss Dave Harrington. There was also J.B. Strauss of Scooter Rider Magazine. Scoot Quarterly was another good one. And finally Motorcycle Consumer News, or MCN, the subscription only magazine before it became about only large motorcycles and went under. I still want something stylish to pimp around on. I still have an obsession with the Royal Alloy 300 and the Keeway Sixties. As I said, I'd own a Vespa if I had a trusted servicing dealer. Funny side note. When I had the Liberty lovely older women would compliment it. The Buddy only gets compliments from creepy dudes! |

I would certainly like a Royal Alloy over the Vespa. It even has a Chinese licensed Vespa engine. The thing is the Chinese are coming out with some nice motorcycles. I can't keep my eyes off the CF Moto, Moto Morini and QJ Motors models. They are good bikes for the money and come in standard styles. I've not forgotten a few Japanese models either.
I had the Tiyen 200 out in May on a motorcycle event. It ran between 50 and 55 all day without strain and I was even able to run with the bikes for a while before peeling off for a separate route to the halfway stop. It did great and I ran 105 miles, door to door, that day with an 84 mpg fillup at one point. About what someone would do on a brand name 150 for the most part at less than half the price.

I talked to him in an email to see where he had gone. He told me that someone came along and made him an offer he couldn't refuse for his Blog. If you hunt around the old tests can be found in different places around the web. It's too bad. He didn't wax lyrical on anything and even included some reports from others on their scooters.

167 scooters!! That's just a normal day in NYC. If anything it gives you and idea of how many Chinese scooters are being sold there.

Yes, please. And it even looks like it has a clutch lever for those who like to shift with one.
