83cc backfiring/hesitation @low speed

My scoot is backfiring on throttle not off from a stop to about 5mph then it runs normal. I have not changed any carb settings since or mods and it ran great for hundreds of miles now its doing this. I do have the orange cdi and plug wire on it...maybe the cdi is going bad. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks

Sounds like you are running lean. I would run a few tanks treated with Seafoam before pulling the carb apart for cleaning.

The carbs brand new, up- jetted, pod filter intake, exhaust, variator, clutch, a9 cam, blablabla. I went to tinker with it few days ago and battery just dead...charged it and barely turned over. Tested it and its gone. Picking up new one today, will see how it runs, richen low speed if needed, clean carb, change all orange cdi n plug wire/coil, new ngk plug. After that it could be a wiring/short issue i dunno.

Ran fine before the mods? Or before you went to tinker?

Ran fine before and after. Didn't get to mess with it. Battery dead. New battery good to go but had a few things to do today, so didn't have time. Just have to wait on the weather.

If you bigbore a engine it's not just going to need more fuel at WOT it's going to need more everywhere. Try going up a size on the pilot.

Starter is barely turning engine over. Battery voltage normal, cleaned all grounds, checked fuses. No idea other than a bad starter or a short somewhere. So I cant start it to see how it runs now

Put a jump pack to it for now to get a few extra bolts. Your engine is struggling to turn over because the starter wires are inadequate for your upgraded engine size. Very common problem. Get some fatter gauge wires running to and from the starter, and that'll help the weak starter

Bridged the starter relay/solenoid and starter turned normal! Just going to order relay.. and positive wire at battery got warm real quick while holding starter button...was told that means starter is bad(2 much current draw) dunno we see.
