It does take time to fully break it in......may depend on how it's ridden. Some say it can be done with just a few, quick, full throttle runs....with a cool down between each.
I'm from a different generation, and have always used the "easy does it" method. It took my scooter 2,500 miles of running, before the oil screen came out free of any debri. it still wasn't fully loosened up, as the following fuel mileage figures show. 2012....1849.9 miles....24.91 gallons....74.26 mpg 2013....1112.6 miles....14.53 gallons....76.57 mpg 2014....2790.7 miles....33.04 gallons....84.46 mpg 2015....2026.9 miles....22.78 gallons....88.98 mpg (so far this year) I asked if others had noticed this kind of improvement as their scoots aged, in this thread.....only a couple of responses http://scootdawg.net/showthread.php?t=55012 So give it some time.....if not abused.....they do improve with age. |
